‘The Troublemaker’ marks Willie Nelson’s twentieth studio album, and was produced by Arif Mardin. The album was recorded in just two days at the Atlantic Records recording studio in 1973. ‘The Troublemaker’ was canned by Atlantic Records when they decided to shut down their ‘experimental country music division’. And once Nelson signed with Columbia Records, there was no looking back: and he had as much creative freedom as he wanted to shape his album. ‘The Troublemaker’ was finally released in 1976 and was met with a positive reaction from listeners.
