Why you'll love it...

Remastered from original masters and pressed at RTI, this 50th edition of Pearl makes clear what everyone knew in 1971: there were few singers better than Janis Joplin. Her take of "Me and Bobby McGee?" It's here in all its glory, still one of the most operatically devastating vocal takes recorded by an ostensible rock singer. She'd tragically die before this album became a monster smash, but it does a good job as any at presenting Joplin in all her glory.
