Helado Negro, the creative moniker of Roberto Carlos Lange, is the latest addition to the 4AD roster — Far In is his first album with the label, following his breakthrough release This Is How You Smile. Raised in South Florida and now based in Brooklyn, Lange has spent much of this year's quarantine in Marfa, Texas. He wrote the new album there, and has said it ”celebrates the ghosts, embracing pleasure and freedom to follow the metaphysical further.”
Lange’s upbringing provides essential elements to the backbone of his music, in particular his songwriting. Helado Negro has a consistent bilingual — English and Spanish — presence in lyrics.
