Description

Fifty years after its first release, we have Bill Withers' Just As I Am. One of his most popular songs to this day – even making it onto Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time – "Ain't No Sunshine," is the second track on the album. Another extremely well-known hit from the album is the other single, "Grandma's Hands."

Booker T. Jones produced, arranged and played keyboards and guitar on Just As I Am, alongside bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn and drummer Al Jackson Jr. of Booker T. & the M.G.'s, with Stephen Stills on lead guitar. With the exception of two cover tracks ("Everybody's Talkin'" and "Let It Be"), Withers wrote every song on the album.

Withers was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, and rightfully so. Get this album to hear him, just as he was, right at the beginning of it all.
