Daptone Records was founded in 2001 by Gabe Roth (Bosco Man) and Neal Sugarman. The imprint began in a small basement in Williamsburg Brooklyn, but quickly grew to include artists and names like Charles Bradley, Naomi Davis Shelton, Budos Band, Menahan Street Band and more on its roster.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Daptone Records is releasing a live album with curated performances from three nights in 2014 at New York’s celebrated Apollo Theater. The Daptone Super Soul Revue Live! At The Apollo bellows with Daptone’s continued mark in the funk and soul arena, while also honoring the life of some of the label’s most talented musicians who have since passed. The album includes singles like "Let Love Stand a Chance" by Charles Bradley, and "Get Up and Get Out" by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, offering listeners enthralling performances from the label’s cherished artists.
