It’s hard to remember, now, given that they are one of the biggest bands still working in the rock idiom, that when the Black Keys signed to Nonesuch in 2006, they were an underground–but beloved–blue rock duo who had never made an album entirely composed of original songs. That would change with their Nonesuch debut Magic Potion, a towering, bluesy stunner that stands in their catalog as a weirdly overlooked classic. From the crunchy riff of “Your Touch” to the screaming howl of “Elevator,” it’s the Black Keys before they became THE Black Keys.
Limited to 1000 copies, the VMP exclusive version of Magic Potion pressed on black vinyl at Record Technology Incorporated. The 1LP will arrive in a single, Tip-On, foil-stamped jacket. It was mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound.
