Spiritualized released their fourth studio album Let It Come Down in 2001. While their previous album hinted at the direction of their new sound for this release, Let It Come Down was vastly different from anything they had done before, in part due to the latest rotation of bandmates who joined frontman Jason Pierce following his four-year process writing the album. Tapping over 100 additional musicians to perform on the album, Let It Come Down veers towards a fusion of sounds, courtesy of the choirs, orchestras and instrumental bands prominently heard. It's an experience that ruminates on heavy moments from addiction to the devastation following broken romance without ever falling into traditional dark sonic atmospheres.
