Description

Shamir has serious work ethic, releasing three albums since his 2015 debut, ‘Ratchet.’ His fourth LP, ‘Resolution,’ includes eight new songs that show a powerful transformation in the young artist’s sound. His voice is strong as ever, and his songwriting is just as impressive. Shamir expresses feelings of fear, sorrow, and hopelessness in tracks like “I Can’t Breathe,” “Panic,” “Dead Inside” and “Sanity.”

Topics like police brutality are intertwined into the record, such as on the song “I Can’t Breathe.” ‘Resolution’ is beautiful, while still having the ability to twist the listener’s gut with its emotional intensity. The incorporation of crunchier, distorted guitar adds a further level of tension to the album. Resolution is a completely new flavor in comparison to where Shamir first started, but it is absolutely right. Here Shamir really comes into his own.
