Austin City Limits blows out 50 candles this year. I can claim the same age but not the reputation of uninterrupted quality. ACLTV earned it right away on the first 1974 episode featuring Willie Nelson. That inaugural show features performances from his then-new release Phases and Stages

My friend Mike Mitchell did a portrait of that year’s Willie recently for VMP. Weirdly, while chasing needed approvals for Mike’s biz, Brianda Fernandez at ACL asked my own self about interest in making paper for their season 50 opener, Austin’s own: The Black Pumas.

Pumas wanted local talent and requested my smashed hands. The only direction: “Something with diamonds.” ACL upped their order after seeing my solution. Best compliment of confidence you can get.- - -VMP’s copies are part of the same numbered edition of 350 sold at the show. My numbers are 301-350. If you get 350/350 then make a wish.- Rob Jones, Walking Frown

Got a question?

This type of print is available for a very short window of time. Any orders placed within that time will be printed and shipped. After the window closes, there will be no other chance to order the item.
Giclée, often called “archival printing” for its use in fine arts museums, is a superior printing method that employs a 12-color, digital pigment ink printer to achieve the most vivid, precise, and long-lasting reproduction possible. The result is a print second in quality only to the original, and even that might be up for debate…
This type of print is manufactured in a very limited quantity. The product will be available until our supply runs out. After a print sells out, it will not be printed again.
Screen printing, also known as serigraphy or silk screening, is a printing technique that involves using a mesh screen to transfer ink onto a surface in layers. The result is a visually robust print with a unique, tactile quality and a level of durability that invites being passed down through generations.
