Description

Most of the earliest free jazz groups pushed their sound into rhythmically amorphous contexts, but Juju instead grounded the saxophone workouts of Plunky Branch with the funkiest, wildest drumming you've heard outside of a Fela Kuti record. 'Chapter Two: Nia' was the group's swan song, as they'd change their name to Oneness of Juju, add a drum set and guitarist, and go to more traditional sounds. But 'Chapter Two: Nia' captures them before they'd go full funk&B, when they were playing art galleries and making everyone move their feet.
