The xx's songwriter, bassist and vocalist Oliver Sim makes his solo debut with the album Hideous Bastard, produced by fellow bandmate Jamie xx. Written and recorded over the span of two years, Hideous Bastard explores Sim's love of horror films and his own experiences throughout life, undertaking topics such as shame, fear and masculinity.
He shared in a press release about the album, "I haven’t written the record to dwell, but rather to free myself of some of the shame and fear that I’ve felt for a long time. So, I hear a lot of the music as joyous, because the experience of writing and recording it has been the complete opposite of what fear and shame have been for me."
Limited to 1,000 copies, the VMP exclusive edition of Oliver Sim's Hideous Bastard is pressed on 1LP Opaque Orange vinyl at Optimal Media Production. The album will arrive in a single direct-to-board, foil stamped and numbered jacket. The record is mastered by John Davis of Metropolis Studios.
