Description

When he started Built To Spill in 1992, the band's founder and lead vocalist, Doug Martsch, approached it with the intention of having rotating members.

He said, “I wanted to switch the lineup for many reasons. Each time we finish a record I want the next one to sound totally different. It’s fun to play with people who bring in new styles and ideas. And it’s nice to be in a band with people who aren’t sick of me yet.”

So when Martsch met Brazilian lo-fi punk artist and producer Le Almeida and João Casaes of Oruã in 2018, the two joined him on tour the following year and began recording together. While the pandemic physically kept the members apart, the current lineup of Built to Spill persisted through the challenge, sending tracks to one another.

It's results? – When the Wind Forgets Your Name, a comprehensive album combining the distinct sounds of each artist into one, unified body of work.

I have been and will remain a fan of Built to Spill forever. Doug Martsch’s guitar playing and voice is a cornerstone of the soundtrack of living in the Pacific Northwest. The question isn’t when am I listening to Built to Spill, the question is when am I not?
