Be Your Own Pet, the punk four-piece from Nashville, TN, has announced their first album in 15 years, Mommy. The lead single, “Hand Grenade,” was released via Third Man Records with a new video shot in Jemina Pearl’s basement.
“‘Hand Grenade’ started out as a threat to the people who harmed me, that I will make them suffer as I have suffered,” Pearl said in a statement. “But the song grew like a mirror to my own grief process, through anger, denial, sorrow. In the end I gain my power back not through violence, but through self-acceptance and rejection of the labels others might put on me. I define myself, no one else.”
Limited to 500 copies, the VMP exclusive version of Be Your Own Pet's Mommy is pressed on "Reagan's Spew" vinyl at Third Man Pressing. The 1LP will arrive in a single, direct-to-board, foil-stamped and numbered jacket. It was mastered at Third Man Mastering.
