VMP Anthology 2: The Women Of Motown Is Now Available

Everything You Need To Know About Our New Box Set

On September 20, 2019

Earlier this year, Vinyl Me, Please changed how vinyl box sets are presented with the introduction of Vinyl Me, Please Anthology. Our first edition was VMP Anthology: The Story of Blue Note Records, and it featured 6 albums from six different eras of the legendary Blue Note Records, and unfolded over the course of six weeks. Limited to 1000, that edition sold out in three hours. Now, we’re back with the second edition of Anthology: The Women of Motown. Here’s what you need to know.

The Women of Motown features eight albums and 9LPs celebrating the 60 years of Motown, from their days as a regional soul label to the home of girl group greatness to today.

All eight albums have been remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, and pressed at Quality Record Pressing, one of the best pressing plants in the world. The first seven albums are remasted all analog from their original master tapes; the final album is from the highest quality masters available. The box set comes with new original liner notes from Susan Whitall, the writer of the book The Women of Motown, and if you purchase it, you get access to an exclusive 4-episode podcast series featuring interviews with Whitall and Motown’s president Ethiopia Habtemariam. There will be a private community for you to discuss this set with other Anthology purchasers as well.

Because we want to encourage you to slow down and take your time with this box set, we’re not revealing the titles in advance. The Anthology experience will unfold over four weeks, where we will tell you the stories of the albums and the people who made them, send you podcasts and exclusive content to make you go deeper with the albums, on a pace that encourages deep listening. If you can’t stand this and need to try to figure out what’s in the box, the albums are hinted at on the Anthology page.

Until 5pm EDT on September 20, this edition of Anthology will be $295 as part of our presale. After that, the set will be available for $345. There are less than 250 left, and they’ll only be available until the end of September. Don’t miss your chance to take the ride with the Women of Motown. You can purchase Women of Motown right here.
