Typhoon - White Lighter

Every once in a while you come across a band that totally blows your mind. Typhoon is one of those bands. The 11-piece outfit from Oregon was much hyped earlier this year and, boy, they live up to it with White Lighter. Groups of this size typically end up being a total disaster but Typhoon manages to create an unbelievable amount of space in their music with some of the most beautiful melodies and intricate instrumentation we have come across as of late. You won't be blown away with any wall of sound but that's not what they were intending. Put this record on and get lost in its subtleties. Listen carefully, though, because it will be over before you know it. Mind = blown.
