Establishing the first stand-up venue of its kind proved arduous. Mitzi oversaw the business and staff, booked lineups, worked the ticket booth, scrubbed the bathrooms, created a development system, harangued/charmed reps and execs via phone and nursed talent through obstacles from homesickness to addiction. Mitzi became known as The Godmother of Comedy to generations of talent that would include Richard Pryor, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Robin Williams, Andy Kaufman, Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Keaton, Freddie Prinze, Arsenio Hall, Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay, John Witherspoon, Paul Mooney, Howie Mandel, Garry Shandling, Byron Allen, Richard Lewis, George Wallace, Roseanne Barr, Damon Wayans, Bob Saget, Louie Anderson and Cheech & Chong. Her artists’ colony welcomed trial and error, with an alluring undercurrent of anarchy.

What is VMP Anthology?
VMP Anthology is the vinyl box set, reinvented. It aims to use music to tell a story, and gives space for lots of listening, learning, and conversation along the way.
What is VMP?
VMP started as a record of the month club in 2013 and has expanded into an online record store and magazine.
How much is shipping? How will shipping work?
Shipping is free in the U.S. and $20 internationally. Records will be sent in one shipment. Orders are expected to ship in December 2022. Timeline is subject to change. We will notify you of any shipping updates.
How is the experience structured?
We created VMP Anthology for people who recognize that every album has a deep story to tell. By breaking up the albums, we give you space to truly listen and absorb each individual recording, listen to the podcast and soak it in. Of course, this is just a suggestion!
Do I need to be a VMP member to purchase this?
Nope! We built VMP Anthology as a way for all fans to experience music more deeply, and VMP membership is not required.
Is this available internationally? What about customs?
Yes, shipping is available in 16 countries in addition to the U.S. (view all FAQs for more details). Due to the box value and carrier constraints, international customers are responsible for customs and duties. When shipping to a country that is subject to VAT, this will also be due upon receipt.
What is Afterpay?
