Description

The Nowhere Inn is a film written by Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein and Annie Clark (St. Vincent) and directed by Bill Benz that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2020. The film is a Music “Mockumentary” that unfolds when Clark hires her friend and fellow musician, Carrie Brownstein, to make a documentary about her music, and Brownstein’s search for Clark’s authenticity grows increasingly strange. It’s a “funny metacritique of fame that relishes the power of reinvention while calling out our incessant demand for entertainment over authenticity.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, further screenings of the film were canceled, but in March 2021 IFC acquired the distribution rights and the film’s release is scheduled for September 17, 2021. This bundle — consisting of the Annie Clark-produced Sleater-Kinney album, The Center Won’t Hold, and St. Vincent’s third studio album, Strange Mercy — celebrates the iconic duo’s artistic partnership and makes for the perfect soundtrack to getting hyped up for the film’s release.
