Liz Harris has been recording as Grouper since 2005, creating minimalist and ambient musical pieces. As a follow-up to her 2014 album Ruins, Grouper has now released Grid of Points, a brief 7-track record. In particular, Harris explores themes of absence and negative space on this album. As she puts it, “The space left after matter has departed, a stage after the characters have gone, the hollow of some central column, missing.” Although the record only contains a short amount of songs, Harris gives listeners enough to chew on and ponder these themes. The more you listen, the more the tracks seem to grow. Grid of Points comes in a special edition wrap-around heavyweight archival letterpress cover, with additional pressed details inside and out, an archival art print, and several smaller archival text fragment prints.
