Widely bootlegged until its official release in 1991, One From the Vault is revered among Dead Heads for the fact that it features a full performance of Blues for Allah, a then recently released LP the band was promoting during a tour in 1975. The show captured here was recorded in full for radio, and was the first time the band played the entirety Blues for Allah live, which meant that Dead Heads were able to hear the shape these songs were taking live in real time via the radio broadcast. Its reputation was sterling prior to the release in 1991--the band was always up a gear in greatness when performing in their hometown of San Francisco--thanks to the tapes being widely shared through the tape trading community. Come for the impeccable take of "King Solomon's Marbles" and stay for the Chuck Berry cover.
