Well, here we are. I’ve been planning on giving the podcast a life of its own for awhile now and everything is finally ready. The name of the new show is Sounds Good, which you can already see from the new artwork, and I’m grateful that Yours Truly agreed to help pull this all together.
I want this show to be a place where you can learn something every episode, find something new to listen to (or re-listen to in a different way), and laugh a bit while you do. Ultimately, the point of this, and of Vinyl Me, Please, is to celebrate music and the people who make it. This show isn’t about me or about trying to be cool. It’s about thinking through great records and artists and finding a tiny sliver of the Big Idea(s) that they contain. I wouldn’t be able to have this show without you, and I’m doing my best to make it better week in and week out as much as I can. I would say thanks for making this possible for me but it feels a bit hollow or self-centered. Instead, thanks for caring about art, and thanks to the ones who make it. It’s hard to say why we’re spinning around on this tiny stone marble in the middle of nowhere, but it’s easy to say that it’s worth our short time here to celebrate the things that move us.
Here’s to many more years of listening to great albums, and drinking too much coffee, and smoking too many cigarettes, and loving this shit so much.
