Because of us shipping two Essentials Records of the Month this month, our fulfillment might take longer than normal this month. Also, if you ordered White Stripes/didn't sign up for it before May 29, we expect your copy to be fulfilled by August 15.

5/29 Update:

Our pressing of De Stijl is still rolling off the presses daily at Third Man Pressing as the great staff there is working hard to be safe and get you your record as quickly as possible. The response to this pressing has been incredible: Despite the delay, this release has had the lowest Swap rate we’ve ever seen in the history of Swaps.

The response has been so great, that we’re increasing our order of records, and pressing more of these than we originally had planned, and printing more jackets and art prints. This means that people will still be able to sign up to receive this record, and not have to get this on the secondary market or elsewhere. We’re still looking at an exact timeline, but we expect these additional, new copies to be available to ship later this summer.

Which means:

• If you were already a member, or signed up for a new membership before May 29 at 2pm MT, you are still on track to receive your record in July, as the records are still on the production timeline outlined below.
• If you sign up for a new membership AFTER May 29 at 2pm MT, your record is backordered until later this summer, and you’ll receive it then. If you sign up for a multi-month sub, it would still count as your June record, and you’ll receive the July record on time, like normal.

We pressed more of this record than we have of recent Essentials releases, and arranged this additional stock, because we can’t wait for as many people as possible to get this record. Thanks for your support of VMP, but especially, thanks for your support of Third Man Records and Third Man Pressing.

5/24 Update:

For the June Essentials release, VMP is partnering with Third Man Records to reissue De Stijl by Detroit rock duo, The White Stripes.

We are proud to be releasing this record in partnership with Third Man, especially since it’s being pressed at Third Man Pressing in Detroit. The significance of Detroit in the story of The White Stripes goes far beyond the record being pressed there: The soul of the city is in the DNA of the band and this album. Pressing it in Detroit was the only thing that made sense for this release.

Unfortunately, due to delays from COVID-19 restrictions, Third Man Pressing has not been able to operate at full capacity, which has led to extended pressing timelines. As a result, this release will be delayed approximately 4 - 6 weeks.

We are working closely with the Third Man team to expedite this process while maintaining quality and ensuring the health of those involved in the process. We now expect De Stijl to ship in early July. If you are an active member, we expect it to ship with your July ROTM. If you are not an active member in July, it will still ship to you, but most likely separate from any other records.

While this delay is unfortunate, we are excited about this release and believe it will be a valuable part of your collection for a long time to come. We will be updating this page as we have more information.

We will also be testing a commonly requested feature: Swapping for store credit. Can't find a record you love in the Swaptions? You can use this to earn store credits equal to one month of your term cost (which varies depending on your membership type) to purchase something from the store. Credits will be added on June 2nd and won’t expire. Please note this is a beta test of this new feature and may not be available in future months. Learn more about Swapping for credit here.

We do expect to have some copies of De Stijl left over to make available for Swaps and in the Store in future months, but quantities will be limited, and there are no guarantees on how long it will last. If you really want this record, we recommend you do not Swap.

We apologize once more for this inconvenience. We know it’s a bummer that your White Stripes record won’t make it to you in our normal timeframe, but we know it will be worth the wait. Music is one of the few centering things we all have during all of this, and we don’t take our responsibility to get you that music lightly.
