The final release in our VMP x Nonesuch 60th Anniversary Paragon Series, Philip Glass' Mishima is a modern classical masterwork, a huge, emotional powerhouse that accompanied one of underrated writer/directer Paul Schrader's masterpieces. Telling the story of Japanese writer Yukio Mishima, the film unfolds in four sections, which are biographical, but also fantastical, incorporating scenes and plots from the books of Mishima too. Glass's score--which features playing from Kronos Quartet and a symphony--lends the film a sweeping, stately feel. Remastered from highest quality audio sources and pressed at Furnace on 180g black vinyl, this album hasn't been reissued since its release in the mid-80s.
