David Clayton-Thomas landed in New York City in 1966, and shortly after got a gig playing guitar for John Lee Hooker. It was in the funky clubs of Greenwich Village that he met several founding members of what would become the chart-dominating jazz fusion band Blood, Sweat & Tears. Clayton-Thomas joined the band in 1969, bringing a handful of new songs as they delivered the monumental 1970 Grammy Album of the Year Blood, Sweat & Tears.
