After initially releasing their first two albums with the label Asian Man, Alkaline Trio made the switch to debut on Vagrant with their third release. From Here to Infirmary was the only album to include drummer Mike Felumlee alongside Matt Skiba (guitar, vocals) and Dan Andriano (bass, vocals).
From Here to Infirmary's titles were written between both Skiba and Andriano, with the album heavily leaning more toward a pop-punk sound than their previous releases. The album's macabre lyrics were the signature of the band's unique approach to music, and From Here to Infirmary landed as a shift in their sound.
