20 years ago, a jam session of players orbiting and belonging to the Daptone scene--that had formed partially to release Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley records--melded into something different than the soul revivalism of that label. Instead, this new band took in scraps of afrobeat, funk, '70s psych and proto-metal, and emerged as the Budos Band, the best instrumental band since Booker T. and the M.G.'s. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut, VMP is proud to present VMP Classics 94, The Budos Band, which has been AAA remastered by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound and pressed on 180g vinyl. Strictly limited to 1k units, it's a must have for every occasion life may throw at you.
