Description

Sharky is the soulful dance pop project of a London-based songwriter, alongside her longtime collaborators, brothers/production duo Speakman Sound. Her debut and sophomore EPs, 2019’s Fruit and 2020’s Love & Ownership, were written during a period in her life when Sharky began to draw inspiration from the extrinsic forces that began to intermingle with her more internal ones. 

“During the time of the writing all of the songs combined, I was beginning to explore a more outward view on the world around me, and following a tricky time that I had finding my feet in my early adult years through issues with my family. I'd become really, really distracted from my education and my personal well being, and when I started to write Sharky I realized I was really turning a corner on that and using those experiences for positive and using my writing as a way of healing. I guess that's what I loved so much about Sharky is it's celebrating the fact that I felt pain, but I'm moving forward positively and trying my best to send out a really positive message,” she tells VMP. The result is audible vibrance — two parts of a playful and complex whole that frequently verge on the spiritual.
