In the late ‘60s, during one of his press conference interviews with a skeptical American press, Paul McCartney single-handedly changed the songwriter Harry Nilsson’s life. When asked about which American bands the Beatles listened to, McCartney responded simply, “Nilsson.” Not too shabby for a guy who only performed live once, and spent most of his time toiling on writing the perfect song, grappling with big ideas like why we’re all here, what does it all mean, and why loneliness is the human condition. His third album, Aerial Ballet, turning 55 in July 2023, was his first masterpiece, a collection that included both “One” and “Everybody’s Talking,” two songs that would ensure Nilsson’s immortality in pop radio formats forever. This new edition from VMP is remastered AAA from the original mono tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, and comes on exclusive Orange & Yellow Galaxy vinyl pressed at GZ Vinyl. The 1LP will arrive in a single, tip-on, foil-stamped and numbered jacket.
This is the first of six (6) planned Nilsson reissues for VMP, including two Record of the Month features next year, and more store drops planned for later this year.
